How do I get my PADI or SSI? Is diving easy?

Learning to dive is not difficult. You may be a little nervous at the start, but the step by step structure of the course will take you through basics, then into a shallow pool before letting you loose on the reefs. Most people find out very quickly that diving is one of the most fun activities you can imagine! Here’s how the Open Water Diver course looks. Please note that on the video in the next tab certified divers are alos shown. You will not penetrate a wreck during the course or dive deeper than 18 meters. This thrill comes later :-)))

Phuket Open Water Dives

After your confined water fun, you will make 4 open water dives over the remaining course of 2 days with your Instructor. When we say “open water”, we mean the beautiful blue ocean! You start shallow and gradually go deeper. The maximum depth in the course is 18 meters. Now you can experience real underwater adventure! We make dives on full day boat trips to islands near Phuket.

3 Day Open Water Course 4 Dives – Itinerary

DAY 1: 09:00am

Meet at our dive shop or *pick up from hotel

Once your student record file is completed, we’ll organize your dive equipment and head to the pool for confined water training. Depending on the learning pace of you and other students, we may enjoy lunch at the pool or conclude the session earlier.

*Pick up on the first day possible for hotels near our dive center.

DAY 2: 7:30am

Pick up from hotel, diving 2 dives at Koh Racha Yai, return about 3:30pm.
*Transfers included from/to hotels at Kata, Karon or Patong beach areas of Phuket.
Other areas an extra fee may apply, please check with us before booking that your hotel is in a free pick up area.

DAY 3: 7:30am

Pick up from hotel, diving 2 dives at Koh Racha Yai, return about 3:30pm.

SSI Training Center – Phuket Open Water Diver Courses

We believe in quality instruction and do not like to run rushed 2 day basic scuba diver courses. We run the OWD course in 3 days with small classes, including 2 days by day trip boat to the islands of Racha Noi and Racha Yai to the south off Phuket. After completing the online theory we can go when the paperwork is completed straight to the pool. You should complete the FREE Digital Learning before the course start. For courses including theory at our dive center it is best if you can come a day before to pick up your Open Water Diver manual. Prepared is the theory better to understand. A 3 day course is easy and fun. Please note that beginner dive courses in the Similan Islands National Park are prohibited. Training dives are taking usually place at the islands of Racha Noi and Racha Yai in the south of Phuket. Sunrise Divers is an authorized SSI Training Center – No. 766623.

Knowledge Development with PADI Classroom Theory Possible

On day 1 please meet for PADI classes including classroom theory at our dive center 9am. We suggest that you stay close to Sunrise Divers (we are at Karon Beach) when making your course. On day 2 and 3, pick up is from your hotel, pick up time 7:30am based on hotels in Karon or Kata Beach area. Pick up also possible from Patong. If you stay in other areas of Phuket there may be an extra pick up fee.

PADI 3 day diving courses with theory in classroom and course manual plus 2,000 Baht.

We can also run the PADI course slowly including classroom theory in 4 days. Please ask for a price.

The theory covered in the course develops basic principles and diving procedures. You learn how pressure affects your body, how to choose the best gear and how to plan dives. We try to make the PADI theory fun! You have your PADI manual to read, plus we watch some DVD’s in our aircon classroom and then you take some simple quizzes and a final exam. Hey, we don’t want to make it too easy!

PADI eLearning is about 150 US$ EXTRA!

You can get started on your Open Water Diver course any time with PADI as well – this can save you holiday time – if you have completed all the theory in advance, you’ll be ready to get straight into the water, no messing around in classrooms on holiday, plus with eLearning you can do the theory in your own time. The charge for the PADI eLearning is about 150 US$ extra – this is paid to PADI, not to Sunrise Divers. Here in Phuket we’ll complete the course in 3 days, with no classroom work except a quick review quiz.

PADI Itinerary with theory in classroom (4 days – 4 dives)

Day 4 : Start 7:30am, pick up from hotel, diving 3 dives at Koh Racha Noi and Racha Yai, return about 5:30pm.
